At a recent ceremony held at the Rangiora RSA, the Ashburton Cadet Unit received the RNZRSA’s Community Service Trophy for 2022.
In awarding the trophy, National President Sir Wayne Shelford acknowledged the hard work undertaken by the unit and praised their willingness to support their community in so many ways.
The range of activities completed by the Ashburton Cadet Unit included cleaning war memorial sites and holding a short service at each, contributing to Poppy Day collections, conducting an Anzac Service for residents at a local Rest Home, supporting local commemorations, collecting and sorting food for food banks and assisting with the Ashburton Silver Band’s door to door collection.
