Winners from Wanganui RSA

Bowlers from Wanganui RSA have taken the title of RNZRSA National Indoor Bowls champions, defeating strong competition from all over the North Island.

The Levin RSA hosted the 2016 RNZRSA National Indoor Bowls at the Levin Events Centre on 25 and 26 June. Over 30 teams attended from all over the North Island to compete for the title.

RNZRSA Vice President Bob “Bukit” Hill said the level of competition was strong, noting a number of serious bowlers joined their local RSAs specifically to compete in the tournaments.

“Levin RSA took on running this tournament on short notice when Rotorua pulled out. They have done a great job and I would like to thank them for running a great tournament. The competition was strong – well done to the winners,” Bukit said.

“The event itself was the result of a lot of hard work from all those involved. To run a National event like this you need a good team as well as getting the support from the local community.

“The RSA has a long history in its sporting events – some of these events been fiercely contested since the 1930s.”
